We have initiated a voluntary recall due to the possible presence of fragments of flexible metal mesh from a faulty manufacturing part. Recalled products include only Frosted Mini-Wheats Bite Size Original and Mini-Wheats Unfrosted Bite Size with the letters KB, AP or FK before or after the Best If Used Before date. Products impacted are:

3If you are in doubt as to whether or not your product is part of the recall just call 800-962-1413. I spoke to a customer service representative who was very helpful. -
3The explanation regarding the "KB", "AP", "FK" is very confusing as the package I have states: May 02 2013, FKA03 205 11:57. Does this mean this package was affected? I have a Kellogg's Variety 30 Pack (31.370z) with UPC 0-38000-70973-9 on the big box. There were three Mini Wheats Bite Size boxes included, two of which have been eaten (one remains). The Mini Wheats box has a UPC 3800021993, does this mean this one is included in the recall? If so, what does this mean for the ones that were eaten? Is this something we need to seek medical attention for?

3My family already eat our box of Frosted Mini wheats last month and I recycled the box. (we enjoyed them!)
Have there actually been any cases where metal fragments have been found in the cereal boxes? Are the metal fragments clearly visable?
What is the potental Health Risk of eating these metal fragments? Should my family visit a doctor? -
4We buy ours in bulk and have gotten rid of the boxes. How do we know, and how do we get reimbursed if we just throw them away to be better safe than sorry?

5What about packages that have KBB, KBC, KBA, and KBBA? Are these included in this recall?
What about your Jumbo Club Packs? They contain three boxes of the mini-wheats. The UPC is different for these - 3800022051. -
3I purchase this kind of cereal all the time. I just got a call from price chopper saying I had purchased a box that could have the mesh in it. Well I got the call a little too late. My son and father had already finished the box of frosted mini wheats. So hopefully there was nothing in what they ate. Kathy

1Forgot to mention the cereal also fell within the date ranges published as well. We don't need a panic here. If you aren't sure, just return the unopened cereal to your market. Better to be safe on this one or any other recall. Just my 2 cents.

very frustrated!
My whole family (4 of us) eat this cereal (we have a box of the recalled cereal in our pantry (I just found out). My 3 yr old has been complaining of her stomach hurting and my 6 yr old feeling nauseas. I would like an answer of whether these could be symptoms of the metal shavings being in someone's system. I know that Kellogg's doesn't want a lawsuit. It doesn't seem like the company is working very hard to answer people's concerned questions. I don't care about getting another box of cereal I care about my family and I's health.

Have you called them? I called yesterday and they said they had no complaints of people being sick. You definitely need to call so they have it on record. If you are that worried bring them to the doctor. My son and I ate a box that had the UPC and fell between the dates but there was an extra letter on it and according to the above it was not contaminated but Im still a little worried.

You need to add a second and even third shift to your phone bank to take care of your customers. Extend your hours until the problem is over.
Hang in there I got through on about the 40th try. Then when you get through the automated reply system you will be put on hold waiting for the next rep.. So far it has been 23 minutes and still holding. i'll update later.
At about 25 minutes a pleasant gentleman got on the phone and took the information from my two boxes. He said they would send me replacement coupons and I should receive them in 7 to 10 days.
You can probably wait for the call volume to subside like next week and get through quicker. -

Thank you Kelloggs for taking the time to create a voluntary recall. I would just like to say I am so sorry for the people you have to deal with right now. I had a half eaten recalled box, probably cost me around $4, I poked through it, then sifted it, then l mulched it to be triple sure then fed it to the birds in my backyard. I am saddened to see so many people go crazy over this, the only people who should be scrambling are those below the poverty line and being under it myself I would rather take a risk feed my kids today instead of waiting for a replacement coupon or something. Once again Thank you Kelloggs for your hard work and charitable work.

Just very curious if the issue began in a Kellogg's factory, or if it was in something shipped in from outside the main processing facility. As this could affect other products from other companies using the same source.

The voluntary recall is a great thing to do, rather then risk something more serious from happening by not saying anything, but did the metal pieces come from a machine in your factory, or from a factory that sent you an ingredient? I mean specifically, did it come in with the sugar, or the wheat, or during the final "mixing" process? you see what I'm getting at I'm sure. And if it did occur outside your factory, has THAT factory or company been notified?. -
