If you are in doubt as to whether or not your product is part of the recall just call 800-962-1413. I spoke to a customer service representative who was very helpful.

The explanation regarding the "KB", "AP", "FK" is very confusing as the package I have states: May 02 2013, FKA03 205 11:57. Does this mean this package was affected? I have a Kellogg's Variety 30 Pack (31.370z) with UPC 0-38000-70973-9 on the big box. There were three Mini Wheats Bite Size boxes included, two of which have been eaten (one remains). The Mini Wheats box has a UPC 3800021993, does this mean this one is included in the recall? If so, what does this mean for the ones that were eaten? Is this something we need to seek medical attention for?

What do I do????
-
My family already eat our box of Frosted Mini wheats last month and I recycled the box. (we enjoyed them!)
Have there actually been any cases where metal fragments have been found in the cereal boxes? Are the metal fragments clearly visable?
What is the potental Health Risk of eating these metal fragments? Should my family visit a doctor? -
We buy ours in bulk and have gotten rid of the boxes. How do we know, and how do we get reimbursed if we just throw them away to be better safe than sorry?
-
What about packages that have KBB, KBC, KBA, and KBBA? Are these included in this recall?
What about your Jumbo Club Packs? They contain three boxes of the mini-wheats. The UPC is different for these - 3800022051. -
I purchase this kind of cereal all the time. I just got a call from price chopper saying I had purchased a box that could have the mesh in it. Well I got the call a little too late. My son and father had already finished the box of frosted mini wheats. So hopefully there was nothing in what they ate. Kathy

David, thank you for the follow up. To clarify, the first two letters within the sequence are the key identifiers.
Your package with the KPB designation is not included in the recall. -

Hi I have one of the matching UPC 3800031834 with the date of aug 18,2013 would that apply to the recall?

if this is a "voluntary" recall, why are boxes that are still on store shelves being stopped at the register at the time of purchase?
-
Better to ere on the side of caution. I for one am thankful the stores are being so diligent.

I received a phone call from SAMs club saying I purchased this and it was being recalled. I still have the bags that came in the 70oz box, but no longer have the boxes as we threw them away for space reasons. How do I return these?

I purchased this product before our vacation. I have 4 children and only one who eats this cereal. He developed Salmonella and was hospitalized because it turned bacterial. He is the only one who ate it and was the only one who got sick. Does this have anything to do with the recall?
-

I sent an email through the contact us link with the 3 1/2 boxes of Mini-Wheats with the UPC code and manufacture code listed above. I haven't heard back from anyone yet. My question was where do we return them? I tried to purchase more cereal at Target last night and when it got to the register, a big DO NOT SELL THIS ITEM came up on their scanner screen. Please advise what to do with the boxes we have. Thanks, Cristin

I called and was helped immediately this morning. I believe you can take it back to the store you bought it at and you do not need a receipt.

I checked our boxes and they both have the UPC code 3800031829 but they both have KPB before the Best If Used Before date. Your notice is not very clear since it doesn't indicate whether it is the UPC code or the letter indicator is the key identifier or maybe both. I am assuming that the UPC code is for the overall product batch but the only affected boxes are the ones with KB, AP or FK.
Please confirm.

I have a box from BJ's - matching one of the recalled items - they don't even know about it.

My grandaughter and my self have eaten quite a bit of this cereal, what are some signs do we look out for? Has anyone gotten sick? You all need to give more information to people

Hey Linda Where's the response?

If we don't remeber which store we purchased the cereal in, how can we get a refund for a box with the above listed UPC and KB codes?
-

My son and I just ate a box that falls into that date and matches the UPC

KPC on 'club' size package, ok or not ok? also the phone number and response is terrible!

Please explain any medical problems associated with this product. I received the recall phone call from sam's club regarding my variety pack of cereal that I purchased there. My daughter, who already has a serious medical condition, ate the boxes of cereal in question. Do we need to follow up with a physician? Additional information would be greatly appreciated.

I would like to know how to get reimbursed. I have a box that's included in the recall.
-

Unfortunately we have already ate ours!!!.... We didn't take notice to any metal but of course with a breakfast cereal from a company your size that should have in line metal detectors. Why would we??
I guess its time to invest in post packaging metal detectors, Mettler Toledo makes some really nice ones. -

I find it funny how the Kelloggs "FAQ" was answering questions til people started asking about help issues. I myself found out from my dad that the local WalMarts have pulled the boxes off their shelves. I get online to find out more about it & sure enough, the box I have is on the list. It's been eaten & well I'm left with the rest of the people who have finished their boxes before finding out. Left with the wonder, If the cereal contains tiny tiny particles that I can't see, can I get sick? I'd like to hear a response from the "FAQ". I'm sure others on here will too.

I would like an explanation as to the difference between the KB and the KPB. I have a box with the KPB and UPC 380031829. Expiration date of July 17 2013. I won't be eating the rest of the box, especially since no explanation is given between the two initial distinctions. If the expiration date and the UPC match the recall, why does those letters make a difference. When Kellogg decides to answer again, I hope they will explain the difference.

I have a 70 oz club store with matching UPC.. however dates Aug 07, 2013
is this in the recall? -

So, yesterday Sam's Club called me about the recall. They say their records indicated we had bought a Kellogs Variety Pack that contained the bad lot. We bought them about a couple of months ago. As luck would have it, They had been sitting in the cupboard until Oct 8, about 3 days ago, I had decided the kids must not like it and I ate 2 miniboxes "so they wouldn't go to waste".
Honestly they seemed OK. No odd taste and no aparent foreign material. I've got several metal fillings, I am usually aware of metal when I bite on it
Would I have been aware of ingesting the potential metal particles? Are there any medical precautions or treatments I should take? Will you pay for them.?

I have one of the boxes that is recalled...Do I take it back to the store or throw it away?
-
-
It seems many people have questions, as do I, and they are not being answered. I bought 2 boxes of the recalled cereal. We have already finished the first box. Here are MY questions. I hope they will be answered, so everyone is clear.
1. Are you issuing refunds on the boxes that have been sold?
2. How do we go about getting the refund?
3. If we have eaten the cereal, is there a health risk that we need to know about? -
-
-
Thanks for the clarification.
-
-
Thank you for this notice as I just bought my 30 oz box two days ago. Reading this I was eating a bowl! Called Kellogg, rep so nice and sending coupon and told to throw the box away. Thanks again.

I just talked to customer service and they said there MIGHT have been some traces of metal mesh in tho listed boxes but they have not had any reports of any illness at all. I said Im just worried about the long term affect. She said the boxes have been out for a while and there have been no reports. This is pretty scary, I hope nothing happens.
Im assuming you take the box back to where it was purchased and they refund you. Im so worried about the money as I am about getting sick. -

I just found out that I have 3 boxes from Wegman's Food Markets in Rochester, NY. My parents have the club size box from BJ's club in Rochester, NY. Just a heads up...Please call the 800 to get them replaced... I am very sad and sort of angered that this happens and the public only get notified once some one complains. what if you do not know how to complain since most large companies now have websites and not phone # for people to call. Both my young child and my older parents are put at risk for some one's sloppiness at their job....just sad....Dawn M. Rochester, NY

I suggest putting images of the labels from the affected boxes. This would provide precise visual information to consumers and minimize some of the confusion. A picture is easier to understand.
-
-
I ate 3/4 of the box, now what. This is nonsense on the companies behalf. They should be sued!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-

-
We just opened 2 boxes of the recalled cereal. We crushed them and drug a rare earth magnet through it and sure enough the cereal has metal in it. You cant see the metal as it is encased in cereal fibers but a small amount in each box was attracted to the magnet.
-
-
Matthew, what kind of metal did you find? I'd like to know what it looks like as they told me the kind of metal they were concerned with.
-
-
And on another note, WHY should they be sued? So far no one has been injured in any way shapre or form. I too have eaten almost an entire box and guess what??? I'm still alive. People are human and machines mess up sometimes. They have been extremely diligent in VOLUNTARILY recalling the product. The FDA hasn't even recalled it. I can't stand sue-happy people.
